Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on January. 19. 1946 into a very low-income family, with twelve kids eventually included, discovered early that she could escape suffering through her creative mind. Her songs were written before she was able to write and read. In the year she turned 8, she got her first electric guitar. She started singing at the Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. The same year, she recorded her first album with Gold Band Records an independent small-scale label. As a student in high school, she made her name locally but dreamed about a larger stage. When she was graduating in 1964, she relocated to Nashville. Dumb Blonde (1967) and Something Fishy (1968) were the first two albums to chart for Monument Records. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated show on TV at the time was searching for a singer for his program. Parton accepted the role in the year 1966. She was signed to RCA Records in 1968, and the Grand Ole Opry was founded in 1969. She left Wagoner's show, however, in 1974 because her solo albums such as Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene exceeded the sales of their joint albums. Parton's hit song, I'll Never Have Love for You (for Wagoner), hit the No. 1 spot after they broke up. It was the first time a single was able to reach No.
